Coach firm given formal warning after 3 separate wheel detachment incidents

A Wigton-based coach firm has received a formal warning after wheels came off their vehicles numerous times. Deputy traffic commissioner for the North West, Miles Dorrington, told a public inquiry he had “never come across a wheel detachment case as unusual as this” during his nine-year post. He added that human error was the most likely cause of the wheel incidents, with drivers not carrying out a thorough check.

Wheel Sentry® effectively addresses this problem on two counts. Firstly Wheel Sentry® clearly indicates a loose wheel nut during inspection and secondly it will retain a wheel nut that becomes loose during a journey at a lower torque level until the next inspection.
